NPBC Dress Code – 2023

General
This Policy Statement is designed to be an outline of the Club’s expectations in relation to dress standards and to act as a reference point for all Members.
The Club wishes to maintain good standards of dress to foster a positive Club image and to uphold general standards in everything in which the Club is involved.
Footwear
- Flat-soled bowls shoes must be worn at all times when playing on the Green.
- Flat-soled trainers or shoes will be permitted for new Members.
- Open-toe sandals will not be permitted at any time.
Roll-ups and practice play
- The Club prefers that Members wear WHITE above the waist and GREY below.
- Smart, casual clothing is permitted, but jeans and revealing/immodest dress are specifically excluded.


Club Competitions (except Finals Day)
- Members should be dressed in WHITE above the waist and GREY below. BLUE Club jackets may be used when required.
- The wearing of coloured tops underneath a white over-layer, such as a pullover, is not acceptable.
Tuesday League (Tuesday Club)
- Members should be dressed in WHITE above the waist* and GREY below. BLUE Club jackets may be used when required. (*Old style Club shirts & new style Club shirts are acceptable.)

Club Friendly Matches
- Required dress will be stated on the team sheet as GREYS or WHITES and dress should follow the standards indicated below:-
GREYS
- Men: Club shirts (old style or new style). Trousers or proprietary bowling type shorts to be GREY. BLUE Club jackets or WHITE Club jackets may be used when required. Any other outerwear should be WHITE. Headwear should be WHITE.
- Blazers are optional and should by preference be Navy Blue, although Black is acceptable where no alternative is available to the Member.
- Ladies: Generally all as above, but GREY skirts or crops are also permitted.


WHITES
- Men: All as above, except trousers or proprietary bowling type shorts should be WHITE.
- Ladies: Generally all as above, but WHITE skirts or crops are also permitted.
BLUES
- Members who have BLUE Club Uniform shorts, crops or trousers may wear these instead of WHITES or GREYS.
Representative Matches
- Where the Squad Managers deem a match as “representative”, dress shall be stated as BLUES.
BLUES
- Men: Club shirts (new style only). Trousers or shorts to be Club Uniform BLUE. WHITE Club jackets may be worn as required. Any other outerwear should be WHITE. Headwear should be WHITE.

- Ladies: Generally all as above, but BLUE crops are also permitted.
County and National Competitions
- Members engaged in County or National games must abide by the regulations of dress as laid down by the appropriate Association.


Other Matches
- Dress for any other types of matches will be indicated on the team sheet.
- The Captains will have discretion where this Dress Code relates to new Members.
- Any Member not following the Dress Code may be given a verbal warning. If the Member persists, they may be reported to the Club Committee and asked to explain their actions. Such a Member may then be excluded from match selection if the Committee deems appropriate.
Ray Keen League (RKL)
- Defining the dress requirements for the RKL falls outside the remit of NPBC & this Policy Statement, but the Club understands that all players in a RKL team should wear matching clothing when they play.
- However, it has been confirmed with the League Manager that, for the 2023 season, if a team chooses to wear Club shirts a mix of new style & old style shirts is acceptable.
