Day two of our finals weekend provided some more exciting games and excellent performances across the board.
Taylor Cup (Men’s Singles) – Pops
Congratulations to Pops on winning his first Taylor trophy.
Rosebowl (Ladies’ Singles) – Chris
Congratulations to Chris who won the ladies’ championship for a third time.
Novices’ Cup – Shaun
This was arguably the finest match of the Finals Weekend. We witnessed 27 ends of hard-fought bowls over almost two-and-a-half hours that went the distance. George was on fine form after his Fenn Cup win the previous afternoon. However, Shaun, not to be outdone by his brother Tony (2025 Novices’ Cup winner), pulled out a magnificent shot to take the win at the death, keeping the Novices’ Cup in the family.
Dick Woolcott Cup Mixed Singles Sets) – Pops
The first match of the second session saw a repeat of the 2025 Woolcott Cup final with Pops retaining the trophy.
Open Pairs – Lynne & Carole
This was a new competition for 2026. Bowlers could choose anyone from the club to play pairs with. Carole and Lynne fought back from one set down to win the game on the tie-break in a thrilling finish to the inaugural final.
Ken Stevens Trophy (Mixed Triples) – Steve Gill & Dave
It’s 40 years since Steve last lifted this trophy! But he, along with the super duo of Gill and Dave, battled in wet conditions to win it once again. It was a close final and brought to an end our 2026 Finals Weekend!
